Why Choose Us?

Own Out of Hours Service – 24 Hour Emergency Care

At Cedar Veterinary Group we pride ourselves on being independent and providing our own out of hours service. We feel it is important for you and your pet to be able to visit a practice that you are familiar and comfortable with, especially in an emergency. You will also be greeted by a member of our own team because maintaining consistency and continuity is essential.

RCVS Accredited Practice with Highly Skilled Vets and Nurses

We have Vets studying for certificates in small animal surgery, medicine and equine practice, thus advancing their knowledge, skills and overall expertise in these areas of special interest. We also have dedicated nurses with behaviour and exotic certificates. Within our efficient team, 6 nurses across 3 practices are trained clinical coaches, enabling us to give back to the Veterinary profession by training students to become fully qualified Veterinary nurses. We also embrace work experience and Veterinary students and aim to provide an important support network for future vets and nurses.

Investment in the Latest Equipment

We now offer keyhole surgery to our patients, which has the benefit of being minimally invasive, less painful and results in faster recovery times. Our highly skilled Vets have had specialist training to provide this service. We are also able to offer digital radiography, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure, endoscopy, and dentistry. Our extensive in-house laboratory with quick turnaround for test results and operating theatre, complete with the latest anaesthesia monitoring equipment, such as capnography, pulse oximetry and oesophageal stethoscopes, all contribute to our fantastic range of services available.

Specialist Visiting Veterinary Surgeons

We have two specialists that visit our surgery once a week to perform orthopaedic and ophthalmic procedures. This enables us to offer on-site specialist consultations and treatment for your pet, rather than having to be referred some distance from the practice.

Separate Hospitalisation Wards On-site

This means your pet is able to stay at the same practice throughout their treatment day and night. We have a separate dog and cat ward to ensure all of our patients remain as stress free as possible, resulting in a better recovery. We also have separate isolation facilities at each practice to provide complete containment for patients with transferrable disease. In addition we are proud members of the Cat friendly clinic scheme and are fortunate enough to have a quiet zone in our reception area for cats and small furries, to help reduce stress.

Nurse Consultations, Clinics & Puppy Parties

We offer a wide range of nurse clinics including, ‘Fabulous furries’, ‘Golden Oldies’ and ‘Cuddly Club’, to promote the best care possible for your pet. Alongside clinics, our highly skilled nursing team carry out consultations including nail clips, post-operative checks, suture removals, dental examinations, microchipping and bandaging. We also run Puppy Parties which aim to help with socialisation of your puppy and provide key information relating to the early years of your dog’s life.

Pet Healthcare Scheme

At Cedar Veterinary Group we believe that prevention is better than cure so we have set up a Pet Healthcare scheme. This enables the cost of preventative treatments to be spread into more manageable monthly payments, whilst ensuring the best care for your pet.

Convenient location & Home Visits

We are easy to find and are able to provide free on-site parking for our clients. We understand that in some circumstances it is just not possible to come into the practice. We are therefore able to offer home visits. When the time comes some owners also prefer to have their pets euthanased in the more peaceful and familiar home environment, which we are more than happy to facilitate.

Supporting the Local Community

Cedar Veterinary Group consists of 3 branches and was established in Alresford in 1893. The practice expanded to Alton in 1923 and then Four Marks in 1985. We are the longest standing privately owned Veterinary practice in the area and we have continued over the years to support the local community. We regularly sponsor local agricultural shows, including our own stand at the Alresford show. We also support our armed forces by offering a 10% discount to all members, resulting in great savings on a range of routine products and services. In addition to this, we are proud to sponsor and support ‘Harley’ who is the Hampshire fire and rescue team’s Urban Search and Rescue dog. Further to this we support our local wildlife by assisting Hart Wildlife. At Cedar Veterinary Group we constantly strive to raise awareness to ensure the health and wellbeing of your pets. We regularly perform talks to schools and clubs as we feel it is important to educate children from a young age to respect and care for animals
